Lamar Jackson’s social media impact yet another example of how Ravens are fumbling the bag

The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson are at odds. The quarterback wants a new deal. But so far, it has not been forthcoming. Jackson was unavailable to play when the Ravens were knocked out of the playoffs by the Cincinnati Bengals last weekend. Many believe that the Ravens would've won that game if Jackson had played.

Looking at the going rate for quarterbacks, it is going to cost the Ravens a king's ransom to sign Lamar Jackson to a long-term deal. But it's worth it...right?

Who are the favorites for the Super Bowl?

According to his fans on social media, Lamar Jackson is worth every penny. He has used Twitter to dispel any rumors surrounding his future.

After not traveling with the team for their game against the Bengals, many thought he was "sticking it" to the franchise. He clarified his stance on social media:

Thank you everyone for your support and concerns regarding my injuries. I want to give you all an update as I am in the recovery process. I’ve suffered a PCL grade 2 sprain on the borderline of a strain 3. There is still inflammation surrounding my knee and my knee

Given that Jackson is one of the most followed quarterbacks on social media, many are waiting to see what he does this offseason. His decision will dictate the future of the franchise.

At the moment, the Ravens are being painted in a bad light for not giving Jackson the contract he deserves.

What is something that every NFL team wants to have? A franchise quarterback.

"Lamar Jackson is our quarterback... Every thing we've done... is based on this incredible young man." https://t.co/dw6jPHQt7R

Lamar Jackson is certainly that and then some. But there is one big question that many have been asking. What more does Baltimore need to see from their franchise quarterback to give him a long-term deal?

Are they worried about his style of play? Do they question his longevity? They will likely have to fork out over $230 million in guaranteed money to Jackson. So it makes sense for them to consider every option.

He posted a 8-4 record in 12 games this season. The Ravens went 3-6 when he was out of the lineup (3-7 if you include the playoff loss).

On top of that, the Ravens didn't score more than 17 points in a single game during Jackson's absence. When the former MVP played, Baltimore was regularly scoring 20+ points.

This proves how valuable he is to the franchise. Many have questioned why it has taken so long for a deal to get done. It is getting to a stage where a new contract might not come to fruition.

This is a scary thought for Baltimore fans. Could the Ravens really move forward with Tyler Huntley as their starting quarterback? Probably not, but he is a cheaper option. Unfortunately, he's not Lamar Jackson.

Get the deal done Baltimore!
