LeBron James voices major Madden complaint about NFL game's new online changes

LeBron James is like many people, playing Madden 25 ahead of the 2024 NFL season. The popular football simulation franchise is back with another entry, though it's ironically named the same as the 2013 game that honored the 25th anniversary. With the NFL season almost here, it's prime football time and that means a lot of action on the video game.

The LA Lakers star is like other people in a different way in that he's not exactly thrilled with the choices EA Sports made for the video game this year. He took to X, formerly Twitter, to voice his displeasure.

"Talk to me! Help me understand the changes Online H2H. Takes some of the fun away. - Seeing who you beat or lose to after game (record wise), knowing your record, seeing what team Your opponent is playing with before the game starts. Asking for the people."

James questioned why EA would change online head-to-head, believing that it removed some of the fun. He wants to know who he beat or lost to and what team an opponent is using before the game. Those changes are not ones that the NBA star is happy about.

What are the new Madden NFL 25 changes online?

Madden 25 is not exactly the same as the games before it. The game is released yearly and primarily features the same exact modes and gameplay that it does every year. Those don't change, but tweaks are made.

LeBron James pointed out a few of the key ones: head-to-head doesn't show who the player just matched up with. This prevents players from contacting their opponents or playing against them again if they want to.

Additionally, knowing the team an opponent is using is no longer possible. It's hard to pick a team to use in online H2H if you don't know that. One could end up playing as the Carolina Panthers vs. the San Francisco 49ers, which is far from an even matchup.

Madden 25 review

Our Madden 25 review suggests that players should temper their expectations. There are changes made yearly, but fans have complained heavily about the lack of fixes. Bugs and glitches continue to persist despite EA working on the game yearly and it will be interesting to see if the reception from the community results in changes this year.
