Lil Wayne makes his feelings clear over Super Bowl halftime snub to Kendrick Lamar

Lil Wayne has opened up about being passed over for the Super Bowl halftime show in less than two months. This time, his rival, Kendrick Lamar will headline the event in New Orleans, which is ironically, Lil Wayne's hometown.

The rapper candidly spoke on "The Skip Bayless Show" about Lamar’s deserved spotlight. However, at the same time, he also hinted at the sting of being passed over.

“Generally, I believe that, for whatever reason… [it was] over my head… I believe [it was] perfect,” Wayne remarked. [0:46]

He added:

“But personally… I straight look at it like, ‘you ain’t there. You ain’t there, and you gotta get there.’”

Moreover, without getting more into specifics, he suggested external factors could have played a role in the decision and concluded:

“It is what it is.”

That said, Lil Wayne is a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, who are third in the NFC North with a 10-4 record. As per The New York Times simulations, the chances of them securing a playoff berth is 99%. If they win against the New Orleans Saints next Monday, the team will officially grab the spot.

Well, it is not the first time, Lil Wayne has spoken up about the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show.

Super Bowl LIX snub broke Lil Wayne since he had been working hard to headline the event

In September, the announcement of Kendrick Lamar as the Super Bowl LIX halftime performer was painful to hear for Lil Wayne.

Taking to Instagram, he shared the emotional toll of missing out on the big stage.

"I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking. That hurt. Hurt a lot," Wayne said. "It hurt a whole lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. And just automatically mentally putting myself in that position."

He added:

"I thought there was nothing – I thought there was nothing better than that spot, than that stage and that platform in my city."
