Mad Dog Russo tells Aaron Rodgers to “go back to Green Bay” in disgust after Jets QB’s ultimatum
Aaron Rodgers left the Green Bay Packers to join the New York Jets ahead of last season. However, the quarterback is still pursuing his first fourth-quarter appearance with the organization. Following the loss, Rodgers asked fans to either support him or jump ship.
This angered Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, who unleashed on the quarterback on Wednesday's edition of "First Take."
"Aaron, you played one game. Go back to Green Bay. You played one game. Don't start telling the Jets fans who has been sitting there since ... all these old quarterbacks who stunk and they sat there and watched nothing. You're going to tell the Jets fans what they should and should not do. Enough already," Russo said. [3:16].
Rodgers' original comments were made on the Pat McAfee show this week, according to the New York Post.
“We didn’t play good enough [Monday] night. No excuses. But come along for the ride, though. If you want to jump off now, jump off, but then don’t come back,” Rodgers said.
The Jets will face the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. Many believe this could be Rodgers' first win since leaving Green Bay. Of course, it will fall on Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and their quarterback to avoid an 0-2 start.
Jets fall against championship contender with Aaron Rodgers as opposed to Zach Wilson, who defeated Bills in 2023
The Jets headed into the 2023 season with oodles of hope with their new quarterback. However, they lost their quarterback for the season. Despite that, their backup quarterback Zach Wilson defeated the Buffalo Bills in an upset victory.
This season, the Jets lost the first game against the San Francisco 49ers in the presence of Aaron Rodgers. However, Tyrod Taylor finished the game.
The team is 0-1 with Rodgers. In both contests, the New York Jets faced one of the stronger opponents in one of the two conferences. By the end of both contests, the Jets had trotted out their backup quarterback.
Of course, seasons are not won or lost in Week 1. The hope is that over the course of the season, Rodgers will turn in a much better record than the Jets did last year. Last season, the Jets went 7-10. Will Aaron Rodgers beat that mark?
