Major NFC East team emerges as contender for possible Davante Adams trade: Report
Davante Adams might be towards the end of his playing days with the Raiders. The wide receiver has handed in a trade request. The franchise is considering several different options, and one NFC East team is being reported to be interested in the three-time All-Pro receiver.
Throughout the offseason, rumors kept percolating that Adams might end up leaving the Las Vegas Raiders. However, these rumors gained steam after the reports of his trade request and several teams being interested in acquiring the 31-year-old WR.
On Wednesday, senior NFL insider for The Athletic, Dianna Russini, reported that the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets are monitoring the status of Adams. Also, Adams is ready and willing to leave his current team for a new one in a hurry.
“The Jets and Cowboys are among the many teams monitoring the Davante Adams situation. Both have checked in with the Raiders. I’m told at this point that Vegas is in no rush to make a move until a team reaches their asking price — but Adams wants out ASAP,” Russini wrote on X.
The Raiders reportedly want trade packages for Davante Adams, including a second-round pick and compensation. In terms of salary, the Raiders will be on the hook for $15.7 million in dead money for 2025’s salary cap if Adams gets traded.
Davante Adams could reunite with Aaron Rodgers
Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers played eight seasons together with the Green Bay Packers. As per the report, the New York Jets have also shown an interest in acquiring Adams. The Jets QB Rodgers had previously stated his intention to play with Adams again.
“I'd love to play with Davante again,” said Rodgers on Up and Adams Show. “It might be in the 2028 Olympics if they let some of the old guys go out and play. But we'll see. I mean I want him to have great success. And I love him.”
Only time will tell whether Adams and Rodgers can come together to win the games one more time.
