Malik Nabers makes feelings known on Giants possibly drafting Shedeur Sanders amid growing rumors
With the NFL's regular season nearing its end, the picture for the 2025 draft is becoming clearer with each passing week. The Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Giants are the frontrunners to pick first and whoever ends up with the top pick will have the chance to draft Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders.
The quarterback's father, head coach, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders has already hinted that the Giants would draft his son if they wound up with the first pick in the draft.
There's palpable excitement among the team's fans about the prospect of Shedeur joining the roster and throwing the ball to Malik Nabers. The wide receiver would likely be the quarterback's go-to target and the duo will ideally be the core that the front office builds the rest of the offense around.
As intriguing as it sounds, Nabers isn't pondering about it. During his media availability on Wednesday, he was asked about Deion hinting that his Shedeur Sanders could be a Giant. The rookie responded:
"Deion is very confident in his son, but that's something upstairs that they got to do, that they got to look over the film and see what quarterback that they want. I'm not sure if they want a quarterback. I'm not sure it's not draft time, but the decision will be made when it's time for the draft."
When a reporter bluntly asked if he wanted the team to draft Shedeur, he replied:
"I ain't answering that."
Giants fans have already seen Shedeur Sanders throwing passes to Malik Nabers when the two linked up in New York last week. They are hoping to see it on the field at MetLife Stadium rather than in the streets of the Big Apple.
Shedeur Sanders draft projection: Deion Sanders confident Giants will draft son as #1 pick
There are still at least two more weeks before a team locks the top spot in the 2025 NFL draft. However, Deion Sanders is confident that regardless of who gets it, his son Shedeur will hear his name called.
During an appearance on The Pacman Jones Show earlier this week, the Hall of Famer proclaimed that the quarterback will go No. 1 in the 2025 NFL draft if the Giants end up with the pick.
However, if the New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, or Carolina Panthers, who have one more win than Las Vegas and New York but a weaker strength of schedule, land the top pick, they may trade it to the highest bidder or use it to add a critical contributor on offense to help their quarterbacks.
As things stand, Deion has total faith in the Giants finishing with the worst record in the league and picking Shedeur Sanders first overall. It remains to be seen whether that proves to be the case.
