Mark Andrews car accident: Ravens star was 'fortunate' to escape potentially life-threatening situationĀ 

On Friday, Baltimore Ravens star Mark Andrews returned to training and has ramped up preparation for the team's season-opener against reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Andrews was in one of the two cars that sustained heavy damage in an accident on the morning of August 14th.

The veteran tight end returning to practice 16 days after the incident that he described as "extremely scary." Per the Baltimore County Police Department, The incident happened while he was driving to practice.

The 28-year-old showed up at the Under Armour Performance Center, the Ravens' training facility, an hour after the mishap, where he underwent a medical evaluation. Team doctors reported that Andrews had suffered no major injuries in the accident.

The tight end spoke to the media for the first time since the incident and said,

"It was definitely a serious thing, and for me, it puts things in perspective of tell the people that you're around that you love them and wear your seatbelt. You never know what's going to happen on the road. You never know what things might be thrown at you, what things might come at you. I'm very blessed and fortunate."

When pressed for more details about the accident, the three-time Pro Bowler responded that there was "stuff going on with insurance" and he'd prefer not to talk about it and move past it.

Will Mark Andrews play in Week 1 against the Chiefs just weeks after car accident?

Despite missing 16 days of practice after a potentially life-threatening accident, Mark Andrews will play in the Ravens' Week 1 clash against the Chiefs. When asked about his health and status for Baltimore's trip to Kansas City, the veteran told the media,

"I feel really good.I'm excited. I'm excited for this game. It's a big game... I'm ready to move forward from everything that happened. And yeah, my body feels great."

The All-Pro tight end is looking to bounce back from an injury-marred and underwhelming 2023 season, where he caught only 45 passes for 544 yards, and six touchdowns in 10 games.

His last game was also against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, which the Ravens lost 17-10. Andrews finished the game with two catches for 15 yards. The 28-year-old is one of, if not Baltimore's biggest threat in the passing game. They need to play well to have a shot at redemption and a trip to the Super Bowl this season.
