Marlon Humphrey stands firm on controversial Simone Biles-Jordan Chiles comment
Baltimore Ravens star Marlon Humphrey called out Jonathan Owens' wife, Simone Biles, and her teammate, Jordan Chiles, for their bowing down gesture in the 2024 Olympics. The U.S. gymnasts bowed down to Rebeca Andrade, a Brazilian gold medalist, following her win.
Humphrey wasn't impressed with the gesture and shared his reaction via X, which went viral. In a recent episode of his podcast, Punch Line, the cornerback explained his tweet:
"Dude, lemme tell you my perspective. I get on … Twitter, I was like, what the frick? Why are we bowing to anybody? This is freaking America, why are we bowing to another country? I didn’t even know what country that was, honestly." (31:04)
"I just seen two people bowing, I said, ‘This is crazy,’ just from a whole human perspective, ethical. Should never bow to no man except God. So I said, ‘Golly, this is wild.’ Tweeted that and said, ‘Dang, that is Simone Biles. I might get cooked by the Biles army.’ Clearly, I’m not a gymnast guy. I didn’t know if she had an army,” Humphrey further added.
Going forward in the podcast, the cornerback said he wasn't aware of the backlash of his tweet until he started getting asked about it at Ravens practice sessions. The realization of the situation's seriousness came to Humphrey when he heard about it from his sister.
Marlon Humphrey goes bold in slamming Travis Kelce
During the same podcast, Marlon Humphrey shared his criticism of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. The cornerback claimed that the tight end took "everything" from him, and he's looking for revenge:
"I pray for this - to go against him because he has tried to take everything from me. He tried to take it all from me. He has got to pay. He has got to pay for what he has done to the podcast space. How he has tried to eliminate us. And honestly, it is not right. I don't care who he is dating. Did they get engaged? I don't care who he is dating." (27:44)
The Kansas City Chiefs are all set to face the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday at Arrowhead Stadium. It would be exciting to watch Travis Kelce and Marlon Humphrey's face-off following the cornerback's statement.
