Matthew Stafford's mother recalls first meeting QB's wife Kelly: "She was adorable"
Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly met while both were student-athletes at the University of Georgia. On this week's episode of "The Morning After with Kelly Stafford and Hank", the wife of the Los Angeles Rams quarterback invited her mother-in-law, Margaret Stafford as a guest.
Margaret Stafford recalled the first time she met Kelly, which was shortly after the couple began dating. She described her first impression of Kelly:
"I remember it was after the awards banquet, I think. You were at the bar. She was adorable. Cute, tomboyish but fun. I knew you all had been dating and it was like, ‘I want you to meet Kelly.' I knew that he was interested in her and liked her a lot. But I just hadn’t met her."(45:19)
Kelly and Matthew Stafford have been married since 2015 after dating for a few years and now have four daughters together.
Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly admitted to being 'jealous' of the NFL's Taylor Swift coverage
Kelly and Matthew Stafford dressed up as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for Halloween. In fact, their entire family got in on the costume theme as their four daughters each dressed as a different 'era' of Taylor Swift.
Before the 2024 season, Kelly Stafford voiced a negative opinion on the coverage of Taylor Swift at NFL games. Last week, she revisited her comments and said that while she is a fan of the Grammy-winning singer, she admitted there was a bit of jealousy:
“It was a good business decision for the NFL, but I almost felt like it was outshining the games. I think that’s what bothered me. I was a little jealous of the fact that they were getting all this attention, and all of a sudden, the football game was the sideshow. So yeah, maybe I let jealousy get the best of me."
Taylor Swift has noted in the past that she can't control how many times she is shown during a Kansas City Chiefs broadcast. Kelly Stafford has shown her support for the singer by bringing her four daughters to "The Eras Tour" in New Orleans.
