Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly has emotional response to Puka Nacua rocking Rams QB's throwback Georgia jersey
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua's status for their Week 9 clash against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field is still questionable but he's widely expected to play. The sophomore star was photographed getting on the plane with the rest of his teammates sporting a throwback Matthew Stafford Georgia Bulldogs jersey, which caught the eye of the quarterback's wife, Kelly.
She shared the post on her Instagram stories and added a 'holding back happy tears' emoji.
With the Rams headed for a crucial NFC West rivalry game, as touched as the veteran signal-caller would be by the gesture, he'd likely be a lot happier if Nacua was cleared for Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks.
Is Puka Nacua playing vs. the Seahawks in Week 9?
While Puka Nacua is on the flight to Seattle along with his teammates, there are still doubts about whether he'll play. The wide receiver reaggravated the knee injury that kept him sidelined for five games and did not participate in the team's final practice on Friday.
However, the 23-year-old isn't keen on watching his team from the sidelines at Lumen Field. According to Adam Schefter, Nacua will undergo a late fitness test to determine whether he's healthy enough to play.
Rams HC Sean McVay shared his thoughts on the injury with reporters:
“He ended up going to the ground and it was kind of one of those deals that… I think the good thing is what the hope and expectation is that sometimes when you do that coming off an injury, it kind of scares you as much as anything where maybe you broke up some scar tissue.
"When you look at the picture, it was really encouraging structurally. There can sometimes be a little bit of fluid, and then that can just limit some of your mobility, but getting that out of there and talking with [Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance] Reggie [Scott] about what his expectation is and knowing how Puka will attack the next couple days.
"It’s not something we’re concerned about other than wanting to be able to keep our guy off the ground."
Puka Nacua was excellent in his first game back from injury last week against the Minnesota Vikings. He caught seven passes for 105 yards and helped the Rams record two straight wins for the first time this season.
Nacua's return was the shot in the arm that Matthew Stafford and the Rams' offense desperately needed, as they put forth their most prolific display of the season in the 30-20 win over the Vikings.
It remains to be seen whether LA fields Puka Nacua and risks worsening his injury. They could keep him on ice for a week to ensure he isn't sidelined for an extended period again.
