Matthew Stafford’s wife makes explosive allegation after Cooper Kupp injury
Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp is in recovery after suffering an ankle injury. The wide receiver had surgery on the ankle and is expected to miss at least the next four games.
Kelly Stafford, the wife of Kupp's Rams teammate Matthew Stafford, expressed immense frustration in response to Kupp's loss and blamed the league on social media. Here's how she put it:
"@NFL Do something. Show that you wanna make it better for future generations. Saying it doesn't matter what these men play on is complete negligence on your part."
Matthew Stafford is also dealing with an injury of his own. The quarterback was placed in the concussion protocol last week and missed the team's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Many expect him to be able to play as this week he has been getting better every day, although that is not guaranteed.
Cooper Kupp injury update
According to Ian Rapoport via Saints Wire, Cooper Kupp is expected to "miss some time."
On November 16, he underwent ankle surgery and has since been placed on injured reserve. This will not be the wide receiver's first season significantly hampered by injury. In 2018, Kupp suffered a torn ACL and missed half of the season.
Now, without him, the team will lean more heavily on tight end Tyler Higbee. Wide receivers Allen Robinson, Van Jefferson, Ben Skowronek, Brandon Powell, Lance McCutcheon, and Tutu Atwell will be expected to carry more of the load as well.
Robinson hasn't had the consistent star-power level performances that the team expected. However, without Kupp, the team will hope the combination of Robinson and Jefferson finds a new gear.
This season, Robinson has caught 29 passes and two touchdowns. Kupp, meanwhile, had earned 75 receptions for 812 yards and six touchdowns.
The team will hope to have their roster figured out by the time of their next kickoff. The Los Angeles Rams face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, November 20, at 10:00 AM.
