Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly opens up about her mental health journey with therapy

Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly, previously confessed to using therapy to help with her "people pleaser" nature. She now opened up about her mental health journey and how going to therapy has helped her become a better version of herself.

Kelly Stafford's statement on therapy came during Thursday's episode of her "The Morning After" podcast. Talking about how she loves going to therapy and what a "big therapy type of girl" she is, Kelly said:

"I honestly guys, you guys know that I am a big therapy type of girl, and I've truly benefited from better help in so many ways. I mean, you guys have heard me talk about them a lot. It's convenient, it's not awkward.
You can change your therapist at any point if it's just not working, so there's no reason not to try. And holidays can be stressful. Don't let that stress take a toll on you to the point where you can't come back from it." (42:52)

Before talking about her mental health journey with therapy, Kelly Stafford recalled her kids' reaction to Christmas lights following their return from a fun family trip to Florida.

Kelly Stafford hired decorators to decorate their house for Christmas. However, her kids weren't happy with the Christmas lights after the family returned home from their Florida trip. Recalling their reaction to the Christmas decor, during the same podcast episode, Kelly said:

"And the first day the kids came home, and Matthew, the kids were very underwhelmed with the Christmas lights. They were like, mom, 'is this it?' And I was like, 'if you don't want it to be it, you are more than welcome to grab a strand of lights and you can just go do it yourself'. And they looked at me like I was crazy."

I said, you know, in the real world, everyone puts their own damn lights up. Mommy did it when I was younger. Daddy did it when he was younger. If he wasn't the Grinch, maybe he was the Grinch when he was younger too. I don't know, but they looked at me like crazy. And Matthew came home and was like, the lights are perfect." (1:17)

Before opening up about her mental health journey with therapy, Kelly Stafford took to Instagram on Thursday to share a scary encounter with a 'terrifying monster' at Hidden Hills mansion.
