Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly promises to imbibe her daughters with Serena Williams’ words of wisdom for Caitlin Clark

Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly have four daughters: the eldest, twins Sawyer and Chandler, born in 2015; the middle daughter Hunter, born in 2018; and the youngest daughter Tyler, born in 2021. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback's wife wants to impart to all four children the lesson tennis legend Serena Williams gave to burgeoning WNBA star Caitlin Clark.

Williams' message to Clark was:

"If people are negative, it's because they can't do what you do."

In her Instagram Stories, Kelly said:

"This. Words of wisdom that I'll be teaching my daughters."

Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly opens up on wanting to have kids, postpartum depression

Having children was something Matthew and Kelly Stafford wanted to do, as the latter revealed on "Off the Vine" with Canadian TV personality Kaitlyn Bristowe:

"To be honest, I don't know what I wanted, but I never saw my life without kids. ... I knew in my future, I was like, 'I'll be a mom.'"

And while she initially wanted all sons, she is happy with how things played out, as her daughters will not have to be pressured to follow their father to the NFL.

Speaking about her parenting style, she said:

"I'm really hard on my kids and I'm trying to relax a little. I also think I'm just hard on them because I feel like there's a lot of eyes on them a lot and I just want them to behave."

One thing that most do not know is that, after welcoming Hunter, Kelly entered into postpartum depression. Her advice for prospective mothers when handling that issue is:

"Whether it be a career that you're not in anymore, your body is not the same, your friends are different, or you're not having adult conversations, it's OK to mourn all of that and be sad about it... I think women think that they have to be so happy that they had a baby, because there's other women that can't have babies.
"The more pressure you put on yourself to feel happy, the worse it gets. Sitting down, talking to someone, letting my friends in on what I was going through, that was big. I think sometimes we try and hide it from the people closest to you, and I let them all in and they were super helpful."

Kelly also spoke about having a "backup" boyfriend to annoy her current husband and discussed her 2019 tumor surgery and her own podcast "The Morning After":
