Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly sides with Caleb Williams for missing timeout during Bears 23-20 loss to Lions

The Chicago Bears lost the Week 13 clash against the Detroit Lions by 23-20 on Thanksgiving Day. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams found himself in trouble with fans for the team's decision to not use the final timeout. The decision ended up becoming a huge factor in the team's loss.

While many fans felt it was Caleb Williams' responsibility to have used the timeout, Los Angeles Rams star Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly Stafford blamed Bears' then-coach Matt Eberflus. During the latest episode of "The Morning After" podcast on Tuesday, Kelly Stafford sided with Williams and blamed the coach for the mishap.

“That's really interesting to me that people are even blaming him because I'm thinking, and maybe I'm wrong, but I'm thinking about Matthew in that moment. I mean, I would think you rely on your head coach to make that decision because, maybe, your head coach has a different play in mind or something and that's why he's not calling timeout,” Kelly said. “I wouldn't put that on Caleb at all, like, at all. In fact, I'm not sure what that game consisted of because, again, I did not watch it, but the fact that they could have tied the number one team in the NFL makes me think he was playing all right," Kelly added.

The Chicago Bears drove themselves into the Detroit Lions territory in the 4th quarter when they were down three points. The team found itself in a critical position after Williams was sacked for a 6-yard loss. Following that, there were just 30 seconds left in the game clock for the Bears to turn it around.

Instead of using their final timeout for the game, the Bears rushed into their next play. However, the play ended up getting snapped with just six seconds left on the clock, sealing Detroit's win.

The Bears fired coach Matt Eberflus on Friday as the team is on a six-game losing streak.

Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly opened up about giving '16 years' to QB's NFL career

Since the beginning of their relationship, Kelly Stafford has been highly supportive of Matthew Stafford's NFL career. During an episode of her "The Morning After" podcast on Nov. 14, Kelly confessed how she gave almost "16 years" of her life to the quarterback's career. She said:

"Well, if we talk about losing yourself, like, yeah, the last 16 years of my life, or the last eight if you break it up, have revolved around a sport and the man I love playing that sport. And all of a sudden, you get taken away by the things surrounding the everyday life of his life." (7:04)

"I just kind of meshed with what I was supposed to be doing or what I thought was helpful to him and you lose yourself real quick. I literally go, like, 16 years ago, I was 19. I'm going, 'Where did this time go?' If I am looking at it, yes, we have been blessed... but looking back at it, I'm going 'That's a lot of football'," Kelly further added.

Kelly Stafford came from her family trip to Florida in late November. Following her return, Kelly shared a glimpse of beautiful Christmas preparations.
