Matthew Stafford's wife takes 'Mama-didn't-raise-a-quitter' stance over backtracking on Rams vs Lions decision
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly Stafford, has an issue with Detroit Lions fans. The last time the Rams and the Lions -- Stafford's old team -- faced off was in the Wild Card round of the 2023 campaign. In that game, the Lions handed the Rams a 24-23 defeat.
But that was not the only disheartening thing about that game. According to Kelly Stafford, Lions fans hurled abuse at her. It was compounded by the fact that she was with her daughter at the game.
Following that traumatic experience, before the Rams' opening game against the Lions, she announced that she would not be attending the game in person. Instead, she would watch her husband play from home.
But come Monday, she was there at the game. Explaining her backtracking, she said on her podcast, "The Morning After":
"Obviously I decided to go and I changed my mind. Turns out people can do that. I decided that my mom and dad didn't raise a girl that's going to cower down to fans and not watch my husband play when I should damn well be there to support especially if I'm in that city." (9:01)
She also spoke to her Dad, telling him the decision, and what he said made her confident in her decision even more.
"You're way too strong to let these people think they can tell you what to do." (9:49)
When she announced her decision to skip Matthew Stafford's game, she came under attack from Rams fans who thought she wasn't being supportive towards her husband. But when she did show up, fans appreciated her courage.
Kelly reveals Matthew Stafford's uncanny ability to diagnose injuries
Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love suffered a knee injury late in Week 1, which was later diagnosed as an MCL sprain. But according to Kelly, Matthew Stafford didn't need an MRI scan to diagnose Love's injury.
She said on the show:
"When did Jordan Love play? I think he got hurt, and I was telling Matthew about it because he wasn't watching. I was like, 'It looked like it was painful. It looked bad with the knee'. And he goes, 'If it was painful like that, my guess is an MCL.' And that as***le was right. He just knows." (2:53)
Although Jordan Love hasn't been put on the IR list, it's still unclear as to when he'll return to the gridiron.
