Maxx Crosby sets record straight after video of DE shoving Raiders coach goes viral
On Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders had another frustrating outing in a 32-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The irritation about their performance had seemingly gotten the better of defensive end Maxx Crosby.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Raiders, already down 28-13, were trying to stop the Steelers from finding the endzone for the fourth time in the game. Crosby and nose tackle John Jenkins managed to get past Pittsburgh's offensive line and sacked quarterback Justin Fields to end the drive and force the visitors to settle for a field goal.
As Crosby was walking off the field, the Raiders' linebacker coach and run game coordinator Mike Caldwell reached his hand out toward the defensive end for a low five, but Crosby shoved him in the chest and continued walking.
The clip went viral on social media and Crosby was critiqued heavily for the push. However, he quickly clarified on X that the incident was being blown out of proportion. He wrote:
"Mike Caldwell Is My Guy. One Of The Best People In The Business. Thats A Love Push, Stop Reaching."
While the shove seemingly wasn't sinister, it was a frustrating game for Maxx Crosby and the Raiders.
Maxx Crosby remains committed to the Raiders
Despite their frustrating 2-4 start to the season, the star defensive end remains committed to the team and helping them turn the tide.
Last week, he was asked about his future with the team in the wake of Davante Adams' request to be traded to another team. Maxx Crosby responded:
"You know where I want to be. You think I want to be anywhere else? No. I got this sh*t tatted on my body. I don't want to go anywhere...it's just funny. You've got a lot of people that have a lot to say when they really don't know what's going on," Crosby said per ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.
Crosby has the franchise's logo tattooed on his right tricep, outlining his love and commitment to the team.
The defensive end has spent his entire career with the Raiders, making Second-Team All-Pro twice and the Pro Bowl three times. This season, he's already recorded 5.5 sacks and 20 total tackles in five games.
He's under contract for two more seasons but wants to stay with the team for the foreseeable future. The Raiders have several issues to address but they can bank on Crosby to help them navigate through them.
