Mel Kiper's Eagles mock draft: Which way does GM Howie Roseman go?
ESPN football analyst and NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper released his third mock draft of this offseason. As the 2023 NFL Draft quickly approaches, the clearer things appear to be in terms of the team's decision-making. What direction will last year's playoff teams take, and which position will the rebuilding teams begin with?
The Philadelphia Eagles, who are coming off a loss in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, have two selections in the first round due to a trade with New Orleans last season. Kiper believes that, with the 10th overall selection, Philly will select offensive tackle/guard Peter Skoronski out of Northwestern.

Kiper said that, with the loss of right guard Isaac Seumalo in free agency, the Eagles will look for help at the position. Although the team drafted Cam Jurgens last season, adding one of the best offensive linemen in the class would help stack the line, especially for the future.
"The Eagles haven't shied away in previous years from trying to stack strength on strength in the draft."
According to Mel Kiper, the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman are likely to then turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball with their second pick in the first round. Kiper predicts that University of Pittsburgh defensive tackle Calijah Kancey will go at number 30 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Peter Skoronski's draft profile
Northwestern's Peter Skoronski is considered one of the most versatile offensive linemen in this year's class. Although he spent his collegiate career at tackle for the Wildcats, NFL teams are likely to move him inside to guard because of his shorter arms. That is clearly not something that Skoronski can change, but his football IQ places him far above the rest, regardless of his arm size.

His athleticism and superior footwork place him above the rest, and his ability as a pass blocker is something that NFL teams see as very appealing. Last season against Ohio State, Peter Skoronski showed his ability to play at the next level. Facing some of the best defenders in the country, he allowed just one pressure on the quarterback.
The 6'4, 315 offensive lineman posted a 93.0 pass blocking grade throughout the 2022 college football season, which is the highest in the country. And, throughout his career with the Northwestern Wildcats, he never posted a pass blocking grade below 81.0.
