Miami Dolphins name their price for potential blockbuster Tyreek Hill trade
The Miami Dolphins may be setting the stage for a blockbuster move involving star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
Trade rumors surrounding Hill picked up steam after Miami’s season-ending loss to the New York Jets. Hill had made headlines by declaring, “I’m out, bro.” after the game, leading many to question his future with the Dolphins.
The Dolphins' leadership has worked to quiet the noise following the aftermath of that statement. General Manager Chris Grier insisted that Hill never requested a trade, while Hill himself dismissed the rumors as “another false narrative” on social media.
Head coach Mike McDaniel also confirmed the team’s intention to keep Hill around for the 2025 season.
However, Grier didn’t entirely shut the door on a potential trade for Hill.
“That is not anything that we’re pursuing,” Grier said, but added, “If someone wants to come and give me two first-round picks, we’ll consider it.”
The Dolphins originally acquired Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022, sending a package of five draft picks, including a first-rounder, to land the star wideout. Hill quickly made an impact, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in both of his first two seasons with the team.
Unfortunately, 2024 was a turbulent year for the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s mid-season concussion and an overall 8-9 record left the Dolphins outside the playoff picture.
Meanwhile, Hill’s year ended on a quieter note with 81 catches, 959 yards, and six touchdowns, still productive, but below his usual standards.
Miami Dolphins’ offseason outlook
The Miami Dolphins find themselves at a crossroads this offseason. Between Jalen Ramsey’s expected departure and Tyreek Hill’s uncertain situation, major roster decisions loom.
While Ramsey’s trade talks appear to be moving forward, the Dolphins have publicly stayed firm on keeping Hill in Miami.
Adding to the uncertainty, Hill was involved in a domestic dispute in April 2025, reportedly prompting further scrutiny from both the team and the league. No arrests were made, and the Dolphins later stated the case had been closed after discussions with Hill and his family.
However, moving the star wide receiver will be complicated financially for the Dolphins.
The receiver’s contract carries a hefty cap hit, $27.69 million in 2025. Trading him before June 1 would cost Miami nearly $29 million in dead cap, though a post-June 1 move would save the team around $2.24 million.
The Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans are among the potential suitors who could benefit from Hill’s game-changing speed. Hill, an eight-time Pro Bowler, would immediately help any offense needing a top-tier receiver.
For now, though, it seems Miami Dolphins fans can expect Hill to stay, unless someone meets the steep asking price.
