Micah Parsons' brother hits out at Cowboys over cap space problems

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his EVP Stephen Jones held a press conference on Thursday, July, 26 which was, in every sense of the word, pretty damn fun. The Joneses had a lot to say about the contract negotiations with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons. At one point, the Cowboys owner also compared himself to Patrick Mahomes to describe how astutely the franchise was dealing with these pending contracts.

It appears Micah Parsons' brother Terrence Parsons Jr was also paying keen attention to the goings-on at the Cowboys presser. Parsons Jr appeared to take a shot at the Cowboys' complaints over the challenges of keeping Prescott, Lamb and Parsons in town.

At the press conference, Stephen Jones said:

"We have a very unique situation. We have a quarterback who played at the top of his game last year, second in MVP voting, who can leave [at the end of the season]. We have two players [Lamb, Micah Parsons] who can't leave here for three years, theoretically. Both of them, rightfully so, believe they should be the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league. I totally respect that. Very difficult situations that we're trying to work through with them."

In response to Stephen Jones' comments, Terrence Parsons Jr tweeted:

"What I heard was I don't know how to use the cap to my advantage."

Cowboys dealing with not-so-unique situation in contract negotiations

The Cowboys' urgency, or lack thereof, in resolving the aforementioned contract situation has rubbed a large section of fans the wrong way. Especially considering the fact that the Philadelphia Eagles were also in a similar spot this year.

The Eagles made Jalen Hurts one of the top 6 highest-paid QBs in the NFL and also shelled out contract extensions to A.J. Brown (three-year, $96 million deal) and DeVonta Smith (three-year, $75 million deal). OL Landon Dickerson also landed a four-year $84 million contract in what was business as usual for GM Howie Roseman.

Pitted against the Cowboys' sluggish pace in negotiations, it's easy to see where Terrence Parsons Jr's complaints come from.

Quarterback Dak Prescott also appeared to put a little pressure on the Cowboys in last night. After Jerry Jones said he doesn't believe this will be Dak's last year in Dallas, the MVP candidate responded, saying:

"I’m just here so I don’t get fined. Honestly, I'm not into those talks anymore. They know that. I've told you guys, once this thing kicks off, I'm gonna do what I can to control my game, my effort to help this team win. And the people who we pay to make those decisions and deals will negotiate."
