Micah Parsons takes subtle shot at Jerry Jones as Cowboys LB raves about Broncos defense after 9-5 start to season

On Sunday, the Denver Broncos took a massive step towards ending their eight-year wait for a playoff appearance with a crushing 31-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The Broncos defense put on a clinic, saving quarterback Bo Nix's blushes. The rookie threw three interceptions, which could have proven costly had the defense not stepped up.

Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons enjoyed Denver's dazzling defensive display as he sent a message to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Parsons responded to a post on X raving about the Broncos' stellar season and said that the defense deserves the credit for their 9-5 record. Parsons wrote:

"That defense is winning them games respectfully!!! One of the best Defenses in the NFL! Once y'all realize defense wins championships, the NFL will be better!"

Micah Parsons to leave the Cowboys? LB willing to accept team's decision

Micah Parson's response was seemingly a subtle message to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who has committed to paying $376 million to quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb over the next four years but is yet to offer an extension to the linebacker.

The Cowboys picked up the fifth-year option on the three-time All-Pro's rookie deal and are seemingly set to let the 2025 season pass without handing him an extension. There have been rumors that they could consider trading him in the offseason to avoid committing nearly two-third of their salary cap on three players and letting him walk for free in 2026.

Parsons isn't vexed about the franchise not offering him a contract extension nor would he be miffed if they traded him at the end of the season. In an interview with the NFL Network, the he admitted that he's aware that the team could move on from him in 2025:

“I understand how that business side goes. There are no hard feelings in this business, whether I’m here or anywhere else. Obviously, I’ve stated that I want to be here. But at the end of the day, I understand the business side.”

Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones told NFL.com that the team is looking to retain Parsons' services beyond the 2025 season, but the front office has done little to follow through on the claim.

It remains to be seen whether the franchise offers the defensive star a massive deal or decides that they would be better off committing their resources elsewhere.
