Micah Parsons throws shade at Giants as Saquon Barkley stuns against Commanders
After a relatively quiet game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10, Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley bounced back with an exceptional performance against the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football.
The running back had a massive second half and scored two touchdowns in 20 seconds of game time in the fourth quarter to give the home team an unassailable 16-point lead. This was Barkley's fourth game with over 100 rushing yards in his last five outings.
Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons was thoroughly impressed and also extremely upset about the running back's stellar display against the Commanders. He couldn't help but appreciate his performance, however, he was dismayed that he was doing it for Dallas' divisional rivals.
Parsons took his frustration out on the New York Giants with a post on X, writing:
"I blame the Giants"
Saquon Barkley stats vs. Commanders: RB's outstanding night
The Eagles' offense struggled in the first half but had a magnificent second, courtesy of Saquon Barkley's exceptional performance. His first big play of the night was a 43-yard catch-and-run on a check-down pass from Jalen Hurts on a 3rd-and-6 play. The drive ended with a 31-yard field goal from kicker Jake Elliot, which cut the Commanders' lead to four.
The running back then gave the Eagles a two-score lead with a stellar 23-yard touchdown run, his seventh of the season.
Twenty seconds later, he showcased his incredible ability to recognize space and flexed his breakaway speed on a 39-yard touchdown run that iced the game.
Barkley finished the game with two catches for 52 yards, 146 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns on 26 carries. It was his sixth game of the season with at least 100 receiving yards.
The running back's otherworldly display helped the Eagles improve to 8-2 and take a 2.5-game lead atop the NFC East standings. Philadelphia is now in a prime position to win the division.
The Giants' decision to let Barkley walk in free agency and sign a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles is getting worse with each passing week, as the 27-year-old looks all set to earn a Pro Bowl and potentially an All-Pro nod in his debut season in Philadelphia.
