Michael Irvin claims Tom Brady has lost drive and it's rubbing off on Bucs roster
Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin thinks Tom Brady has lost his famous drive that made him the best quarterback ever. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going through a turbulent time right now, with a lot of questions being asked about their 45-year-old quarterback.
Sitting at 3-3 after their shock loss to the Steelers, the Buccaneers are perhaps one of the most worrisome teams in the league. Tampa Bay have lost three of their last four games and Irvin is worried about their current situation.
Irvin said on First Take:
"And I say Brady because as you say, Brady has everything. He has everything right now. And we sat here when Brady returned from his excused absence and I saw him on, I said, 'Guys, I'm worried about this.'"
Irvin added:
"It's not like Tom Brady can go lead a football team and I can see if he says, 'Let's go right now.' Nobody's going right now because he doesn't even believe it. And we see that on the football field."
Are we right to be worried about Brady and his performances?
Absolutely. This Buccaneers team is a shell of its former self. The hard-nosed defense, coupled with the 45-year-old's explosive offense, is almost non-existent. Tampa Bay have been held to 20 points or less in four of their first six games.
With the legendary quarterback under center, many expected Tampa Bay to be Super Bowl challengers. But at this rate, the reigning NFC South champs might be in danger of missing the playoffs altogether.
We have seen enough of the seven-time Super Bowl winner to know that he won't throw in the towel. But his decision to go on for another year doesn't look like it was his best though (at the moment anyway).
With the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams up next, Tampa Bay will likely need to win all three to get some sort of momentum going.
The Atlanta Falcons have been a surprise packet this year and could push the Buccaneers all the way. They might even clinch the division if everything goes their way.
For the Buccaneers, we can't write them off yet. We are, after all, just six games in so far. But things will need to change rather quickly, otherwise the 45-year-old quarterback could be watching the playoffs from his couch.
