Michael Penix Jr's girlfriend Olivia Carter hypes QB as Falcons gear up for Week 13 clash vs Chargers
With the LA Chargers set to face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Michael Penix Jr.'s girlfriend Olivia Carter is his biggest cheerleader. Carter took to Instagram and posted two stories on game day.
In the first story, she shared a collage of four selfies taken inside a car. Her outfit was in sync with the Atlanta Falcons’ colors. Carter wore a black hoodie and a white cap.
Carter then shared a clip from inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium in her second story. On the giant video board, Oenix Jr. was displayed in full gear as he was preparing for Week 13 action.
Penix Jr. has not been given a lot of playing time yet as he plays behind veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins.
The rookie NFL QB has only appeared briefly in late-game situations during blowout losses to the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. However, he remains optimistic.
"It's just football," Penix said, via Forbes on Sunday. "I haven't played on the field with the starters yet. It's always a learning experience. At the end of the day, it's football. It's the same game we've been playing since we were kids."
When talking about his transition from college to the NFL, he believes that the biggest adjustment lies in his mindset.
While Penix Jr. plays behind Cousins, other QBs in his draft class — Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams and Drake Maye — are leading their teams as starters.
Olivia Carter was there for Michael Penix Jr. on his NFL draft day
Michael Penix Jr. getting selected eighth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2024 NFL draft was a surprise since the team already signed Kirk Cousins to a four-year $180 million contract.
On draft night, Penix Jr.'s girlfriend Olivia Carter was right by his side. For her, it was likely the culmination of years of support as she watched him rise above the highs and lows of his NCAA career.
Carter and Penix Jr. met after the QB transferred to Washington from Indiana in December 2021.
Olivia Carter is a former soccer player. After graduating from the University of Nevada in 2022, she relocated to Seattle, which led her to meet Michael Penix Jr.
