Myles Garrett defends Minkah Fitzpatrick after Steelers’ DB faces backlash for Nick Chubb’s injury
Cleveland Browns star defensive player Myles Garrett recently was asked about Nick Chubb's injury. The running back suffered a season-ending knee injury during the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and much of the blame was placed on Minkah Fitzpatrick.
The Steelers DB faced backlash on social media as many fans blamed him for intentionally injuring Chubb. However, Garrett didn't feel the same and came in defense of Fitzpatrick.
Here's what Garrett said as per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:
“Minkah didn’t do anything illegal. He was playing the game how it’s supposed to be played. It was very unfortunate what happened, Nick getting held up but just having, just planting his foot and the hit and all that. That’s not unlike what corners around the league do. This is something that’s very common."
What happened to Nick Chubb was truly unfortunate and like many other players, Garrett didn't put the blame on Fitzpatrick. The Steelers DB also said that it was a normal play to stop the running back from getting into the endzone, but it resulted in a serious injury.
Hopefully, the Cleveland Browns running back will be able to make a recovery, as he is one of the best players in the league.
Myles Garrett and the Browns need to bounce back in Week 3
The Browns lost in Week 2 against the Steelers in a game that they should have won easily. Deshaun Watson didn't play well, and the Myles Garrett-led defense was letdown once again.
With Chubb out, the defense needs to be at their best, and in Week 3 they'll go against Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans. This is a great opportunity for Deshaun Watson to redeem himself, and if the Browns lose this game, making the playoffs would become very tough.
Jerome Ford will be the RB1 for the Browns going forward while Kareem Hunt will serve as the RB2 to aid the struggling offense.
