New Jets HC Aaron Glenn sends crystal-clear message to fans as franchise looks to navigate through turmoil
On Wednesday, the New York Jets announced hiring Aaron Glenn as the franchise's new head coach. The 52-year-old spent the last five seasons as the Detroit Lions' defensive coordinator and helped them flip its fortunes and go from one of the worst teams in the NFC to the No. 1 seed.
On Monday, Glenn visited the Jets' facility to meet with team owner Woody Johnson. Following the franchise's announcement, the former All-Pro cornerback released a statement that read:
“This place is special for me. From the time I was drafted and practiced on Long Island, to the time I came back as a scout in New Jersey, this organization has always felt like home. I'm thankful to Mr. Johnson for this opportunity."
He also sent a message to the players and the fans, vowing to turn the tide:
"To our players, prepare to be coached with everything we have. That is our responsibility. I ask that we share the same vision and that's working towards winning a championship. To our fans, simply put, expect a winning team that you will be proud of."
This isn't Glenn's first pitstop in New York. He spent the first eight seasons of his playing career with the Jets and earned two Pro Bowl nods during his time with the team.
