Jets lose patience with Zach Wilson, willing to dump QB as franchise looks to move on from 2021 second overall pick: Report

Could Zach Wilson be out of New York to start the 2023-2024 season?

According to Jay Glazer, the Jets are expected to move on from Wilson at the conclusion of the season.

Wilson has lost even more confidence in himself after their last game, according to @JayGlazer

Glazer claims the second-year QB lost even more confidence in himself after Thursday night's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He's been one of the - if not the worst - quarterbacks this season, statistically speaking. Despite having a 5-4 overall record, Wilson has a lousy 72.8 QBR, a completion percentage of 54.5, and has only thrown six touchdowns with one more interception in nine games.

Wilson has struggled even more under pressure this season. He ranks dead last in QBR (2), completion percentage (24) and yards per attempt (2.9).

You almost have to try to be this bad on purpose to end up this awful.

As a rookie, he struggled immensely, finishing the season with a passer rating of 69.7 while throwing nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. With the Jets having a solid all-around team, Wilson's appearing to hold them back in several ways on offense and his time with the Jets may have come to an end.

Is Zach Wilson the worst QB of the 2021 class?

Wilson is by far the worst quarterback in the 2021 NFL first-round draft class, all numbers considered. The class consists of Trevor Lawrence, Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, and Mac Jones. All QBs were taken in the first 15 picks.

Wilson was the second quarterback taken in the 2021 NFL draft by the Jets. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick, and he has made a big leap this season, throwing for more yards, touchdowns and pushing for a playoff appearance.

Lance was hurt this season in the second game and suffered a season-ending ankle injury. As a rookie, he appeared in a few games and was effective in his limited time on the field.

Fields has found a rhythm, rushing for 1,000 yards this season and eight touchdowns while also having a higher passer rating than last season.

Jones made the playoffs as a rookie with a 10-7 record but has regressed this season, though not as much as Wilson.

If the Jets move on from Wilson next season, it will be interesting to see where he suits up next year.
