NFL analyst believes Eagles trade for AJ Brown becoming “Herschel Walker-type trade”

AJ Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles secured a significant victory against the Miami Dolphins in a primetime game, which could be their biggest win of the season so far. While the team triumphed, NFL analyst Peter Schrager focused on the implications of the win for General Manager Howie Roseman's career.

Specifically, Schrager highlighted the significance of Roseman's decision to trade a first-round pick for Brown. Here's how he put it:

"It might go down as like a Herschel Walker-type trade," Schrager said. "When you trade a first-round pick for AJ Brown and you get him for the long term, no disrespect to Treylon Burks or the front office in Tennessee, but that's one of those lopsided trades you're going to see in football [00:02:02]"

How much was Herschel Walker traded for?

According to Bleacher Report, the cost of the Minnesota Vikings getting Walker was staggering. In exchange for Walker, the Vikings surrendered five players and six draft picks. It took 11 total assets to pry Walker away from the Cowboys at the height of his powers in 1989.

The trade ultimately turned into players such as Emmitt Smith, Kevin Smith, Russell Maryland, and Darren Woodson.

In comparison, the Titans gave up a No. 18 first-round pick and a No. 101 pick. The first-round pick turned into Treylon Burks. The second pick was used in a different package move, per Tennessean.

Since 2022, Brown has earned a total of about 2,350 yards and 14 touchdowns in 22 games. Over that same span, Burks has earned 543 yards and two touchdowns. Of course, Brown is in the prime of his career while Burks spent all of 2022 learning the ropes as a rookie. That said, the winner of the trade thus far is basically an objective fact.

The Titans went 7-10 last season and currently sit at 2-4. Meanwhile, the Eagles went to the Super Bowl last season and now sit at 6-1. The Titans appeared to have realized their mistake, as they made the move of signing DeAndre Hopkins, but the move hasn't quite filled the void as Hopkins has earned just 376 yards this season, less than half of Brown's production of 809 yards.
