NFL analyst blames CeeDee Lamb for Jerry Jeudy’s flameout in Denver

CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy are two receivers sitting in entirely different conferences on two different career trajectories. While Lamb has enjoyed non-stop success with the Dallas Cowboys, Jeudy struggled to fit in with the Denver Broncos.

He was traded to the Cleveland Browns where he saw a lot more success. NFL analyst Mike Florio opened up about this on a Dec. 3 edition of "Pro Football Talk."

Mike Florio: [00:06:09] "One of the reasons why I think he's been kind of perceived as not living up to the pre-draft hype: he was taken by the Broncos while Ceedee Lamb was still on the board, while Justin Jefferson was still on the board, and while Brandon Aiyuk was still on the board," he said.
"So that, I think, fueled the idea that he really wasn't living up to what we expected, because those three guys really delivered, especially Jefferson. But ... any of them could have been had by the Broncos," he added. [00:06:44][34.9] PFT

An explosive draft coupled with a sluggish start amplified the disappointment for Courtland Sutton's former teammate, who has already seen his 2024 production rank above the totals of multiple other seasons.

The Cleveland Browns wide receiver had gone mostly under the radar, on pace for another year that would blend with the rest of his career. Heading into mid-November, the wide receiver was still looking for his first 100-yard game.

However, since Nov. 17, he has logged two triple-digit games, including Monday Night's 235-yard outing in Denver. The surge has put the wide receiver on pace for his first 1,000-yard season in his fifth year.

As a receiver, the 1,000-yard mark is one of the first indicators of a successful season, but there is still room for him to grow. Jerry Jeudy has just three touchdown catches on the season, including a drought from Sep. 15 through Nov. 3.

Going forward, the receiver eyes filling in that gap next season. Still, there is plenty of time for Jerry Jeudy to pass his personal six-touchdown record.
