NFL analyst blames Kyler Murray’s height for Week 1 stumble against Josh Allen

Kyler Murray and Josh Allen are on two opposite sides of the same coin. Murray and Allen use their legs as one of their biggest selling points. However, Murray's speed and smaller size create a different style than Allen's bigger, more powerful frame.

Both quarterbacks' pros work better in different situations. While Murray's smaller size might help him hide from opposing backs, it also hurts his throwing ability. At least, that is what NFL analyst Mike Florio blamed the Cardinals' loss on. Speaking on a Sept. 11 edition of "Pro Football Talk," he blamed Murray's height for missing his best new target in a key situation.

"Marvin Harrison Jr, who had one catch in his NFL debut, was wide open down the right side of the field. And Kyler Murray who probably has a hard time seeing over the line, didn't see that Marvin Harrison Jr was wide open," he said [0:43].
"They could have won that game. After they blew the lead and fell behind by 11, they could have come back and won that game."

The Cardinals went into halftime with a 17-10 lead, sending a message that Murray's team is not to be trifled with this season. However, his team gave up a 24-11 run, losing the game 28-34.

According to Pro Football Reference, Murray is 5-10, making him one of the smaller quarterbacks in the league. It will take more than just Week 1 to see if that creates a disconnect between Marvin Harrison Jr. and Murray.

The Cardinals quarterback has suffered a painful defeat to start the season. However, there are still 17 weeks to go at a bare minimum. In Week 2, Murray will take on the Los Angeles Rams, a division rival he has struggled against.

An 0-2 start is a difficult hole to climb out of and the opponent might be the worst one for Murray at the worst time. Since he started his first game for the team in 2019, the Arizona Cardinals have lost many more games than they have won against the Rams. Will Murray reverse course this weekend?

The Cardinals face the Rams on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 4:05 PM EST.
