NFL analyst blasts Aaron Rodgers’ unexcused absence from mandatory minicamp - “I'm so sick of that sh*t”
As is public knowledge, Aaron Rodgers was missing from the Jet's mandatory minicamp due to an allegedly unexcused absence. While some expressed concern about his reasons for missing practice without permission, one NFL analyst let loose.
Speaking on Wednesday morning's edition of "Pro Football Talk," NFL analyst Mike Florio braced for Aaron Rodgers to blame someone else for his absence. However, he didn't do so with a smile.
Mike Florio: [00:02:26] "'Oh, the New York Post must be on the payroll of Big Pharma, too. Anybody who dares question the delicate genius is on the payroll of Big Pharma.' It can never be anything about him."
"It's someone else being corrupt and I'm so sick of that sh*t from him. Because that's what we'll hear it again. We'll hear it again. All the haters out there. It has nothing to do with me. They're all corrupted. [00:02:47]," Florio said. [20.7] PFT
Pro Football Talk also posted a potential connection between Rodgers' absence and an Ayahuasca retreat on June 12. The account questioned if he was in "Peru or Columbia." Rodgers is well-known to have a soft spot for the drug,
Aaron Rodgers serves as the Jets' newest savior following a nine-year streak of sub-.500 seasons. If Rodgers were to get the Jets a winning record this season, it would only be the team's fourth since his former mentor Brett Favre helped the team to a 9-7 record in 2008.
Aaron Rodgers continues pattern of absence dating back to early last season
The New York Jets quarterback was greeted with lofty expectations in 2023. However, his torn Achilles ended the year after just four plays.
Zach Wilson took the helm and most of the attention away from Aaron Rodgers' attendance record. While the quarterback teased an early return, he found himself working on a different schedule than a normal starting quarterback.
As such, the quarterback may have had more freedom than he had in quite some time. With the quarterback seemingly healed and expected to perform a typical starting quarterback's duties, the first OTA session has been met with attendance issues.
Looking back on the year with Rodgers, a pattern is presenting itself. Since the start of the season, the quarterback has had attendance be essentially optional. Now, however, his attendance is no longer optional, but the quarterback appears to have not made that internal adjustment to prioritize the Jets' schedule first.
To avoid future trouble and break the pattern of common absences, Garrett Wilson's quarterback will need to focus on the job and prioritize it above all else. Will the 40-year-old quarterback find a way to refocus and lock in or could this be the first indicator of his decline out of the NFL?
