NFL analyst claims Patrick Mahomes is thrilled about Lamar Jackson’s primetime triumph

As Patrick Mahomes might be aware of, Lamar Jackson seems to have found a new gear in the last five days. Between blowing out the Denver Broncos' respected defense and sweeping Joe Burrow in a division series, the Ravens quarterback looks like he's finding his stride.

While Jackson is undoubtedly thrilled with how the last several days have gone, one of his biggest rivals might also be smiling in the background.

At least, that is what one NFL analyst appears to believe. Speaking on a Nov. 8 edition of "Good Morning Football," NFL analyst Kyle Brandt explained why he believed Patrick Mahomes might be the biggest beneficiary of the TNF result.

"I think this was a really good win for Baltimore. I think this was a huge win for Kansas City. ... Remember, there is one active quarterback on the planet Earth who has ever beaten Patrick Mahomes in a playoff game. And it was Joe Burrow. That's the only guy who's ever done it. And Joe Burrow sitting there at 4-6 right now."

Even when the Baltimore Ravens win, the Chiefs win, it seems. Burrow stands as the only active quarterback to have defeated Mahomes in the playoffs since the Chiefs quarterback joined the league in 2017. It's not over for Burrow, but he needs to get back on the horse quickly.

Despite starting 0-3, some fans and analysts expected the Bengals to rocket back into the playoff picture. However, a look at the team's run at getting back to .500 comes with one huge caveat.

This season, Burrow and the Bengals are winless against opponents with a winning percentage of .500 or better. The star quarterback has come close, losing by just one point to the Chiefs and Ravens. However, whether it has been the Burrow stumbling or the defense struggling, the team has failed to rip off a win against a team that has won more games than it has lost.

With two games against teams over .500 coming up as of this writing, that pattern doesn't bode well for Burrow's team. Of course, the motto "any given Sunday" wasn't plucked out of thin air. Can Burrow's Bengals turn it around post-trade deadline?
