NFL analyst compares "superstar"rookie QB with Josh Allen
While last year's draft saw teams fretting about who would be the next Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen, there are no such concerns with this year's quarterback class. Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud have been the pick of the quarterbacks, but there's far greater depth beyond these names, as NFL analyst Jordan Schultz highlights.
One player who has caught his eye and has been compared with Buffalo Bills quarterback Allen is Florida QB Anthony Richardson. He had a near-perfect pro day and seems to be rising through the ranks. There's a great chance that he could go in the top ten picks in this year's draft.
An unnamed NFL executive concurred, calling him a superstar and that he reminded him of Josh Allen:
"Richardson reminds me of Josh Allen with his tools. He's so fast and explosive. Once you get him in an NFL program and really start to coach him up, there's superstar ability."
Anthony Richardson not the only one who could be next Josh Allen
While Anthony Richardson has moved up in stature, he is, by no means, the only quarterback who's exciting general managers across the NFL. Will Levis, out of Kentucky, showed what he could do on his pro day, throwing some howitzers downfield.
Hendon Hooker was another quarterback pointed out by the analyst as one who could go in the first round. He has been highlighted by many observers as the one who's the most NFL-ready in his class. He has an extremely high work ethic and is good at understanding schemes. The aforementioned NFL executive said:
"I almost wish we needed a quarterback. We're still looking at all these guys, but we're not taking one early."
With so many exciting possibilities, it looks to be a great draft class. C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young are still the cream of the crop, though, and are expected to go as the top quarterback pick. However, as the above opinions highlight, there's much more to the quarterback class this year than just a few.
As we get used to Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow picking up the baton for the next generation of quarterbacks, it looks like there's a whole new emerging to take over from them. In a league where churn is high and even some of the biggest prospects fail, this year's NFL draft could provide them with some of the biggest superstars in years to come.
