NFL analyst foresees Bill Belichick taking over Nick Sirianni's Eagles in 2025 as HC's seat heats up
Nick Sirianni is in the hot seat and Bill Belichick could be poised to take over in Philadelphia if the Eagles decide to part ways with their coach after or during the upcoming season. NFL analyst Jeremy Fowler certainly thinks so and he based that on an assumption that he does not believe next year's coaching crop is going to be as strong as this year.
That could allow Bill Belichick to return to the NFL after a recharge. And he called the Eagles the perfect opportunity if Nick Sirianni is dismissed. Fowler commented on the Talkin' Ball podcast,
"I don't think the coaching pool is going to be overly strong next year... there's not going to be like 20 names screaming head coach, so Bill Belichick, I think it'd be more of a position of power than it was a year ago. If Philly opens, it's just a perfect fit for me, I think he would want that job in the worst way."
Replacing Nick Sirianni at Eagles not only NFC East option for Bill Belichick
Jeremy Fowler also added the Cowboys into the mix by saying that just like the Eagles, they are built to win championships now. That means that Mike McCarthy will be under pressure from his management this season, just as Nick Sirianni is reportedly under strain from Howie Roseman should he fail to deliver results.
The NFL analyst also added that Bill Belichick has a good relationship with Jerry Jones and other members of the Cowboys' owning family and that could be an option. He commented,
"Philly, ready to win. Dallas, ready to win. Coaches that know that and have to get it done in a ready to win situation. Nick Sirianni, Mike McCarthy, they're both in that situation. So if one of those opens or both opens, I can certainly see it. The Jones's have a long-standing relationship with Bill Belichick, I could see it happening."
However, it looks as if Philadelphia would be a more likely destination for the former Patriots head coach because, based on certain reports, the dynamic between Belichick and Jerry Jones might not be the most conducive.
Wherever the future Hall-of-Fame coach finally ends up going, it could allow him the chance of a reset and competing with a roster unlike in New England, which was not built to win now. That next step that he takes and the success that he achieves there could end up deciding his legacy.
