NFL analyst gives one reason not to believe that Aaron Rodgers is washed up
Aaron Rodgers fans might remember the 2024 season as the year that the NFL zeitgeist cooled on the Jets quarterback. Between the pick-sixes and step back from Zach Wilson in terms of wins, most fans are ready to close the book on his NFL career.
However, even as the Jets continue to lose, one NFL analyst has delivered one big reason why Rodgers is not washed up. Speaking on Wednesday's edition of "Get Up," Mike Greenberg claimed Rodgers to be on pace for one of the best seasons in their history in one category.
"He has 23 touchdowns and eight picks right now," Greenberg said. "You have to remember what franchise you're talking about. From the prism of the Jets, he's having one of the best seasons in their history. He's on pace to throw for 3952 yards. That would be the second most in franchise history."[02:48:03:05].
If he could beat that pace by just 49 yards, he could end the year as a 4000-yard passing quarterback.
Of course, with the Jets trailing most of the season, Rodgers has had more reason to throw than if he had been on the winning side. However, had he been winning, the story of the season would have been entirely different.
Aaron Rodgers clinches worse record than Brett Favre with Jets
The Jets quarterback might be on pace to beat his mentor's production in his first season with the Jets. However, when it comes to winning and losing games, Brett Favre could end up doubling Aaron Rodgers' record when all is said and done.
Rodgers has a 4-10 record while Favre finished 9-7. If Rodgers were to win out, the best record he could earn is a 7-10 record. However, if he loses out, he could end up with a 4-13 record.
That said, Rodgers will finish with more touchdowns than interceptions, beating out Favre in the comparison. He is on pace for more passing yards as well, although that has not come to pass yet. To lock this in, he would need to earn 221 more passing yards while avoiding throwing another 15 interceptions without a touchdown.
