NFL analyst goes to bat for Kyler Murray following crucial win over Tua Tagovailoa in “Call of Duty Bowl”
Kyler Murray has taken more than a few jokes in regard to his affinity for the Call of Duty franchise. With the latest game in the series released last week, some fans made jokes bracing for Murray to play the game instead of preparing for his job.
However, after Murray's impressive win against Tua Tagovailoa's Miami Dolphins—securing first place in the NFC West—NFL analyst Kyle Brandt came to his defense. Speaking on the October 28 episode of "Good Morning Football," Brandt delivered a strong rebuttal to those jokes.
"Apparently it is a great game, but not as great as the game Kyler Murray just had in Miami, Florida, in which he was brilliant, in which he won the Call of Duty Bowl just days after his alleged weakness came out for streaming download or physical media purchase," Brandt said. [01:24:01:48][23.9]
"The jokes are over. And guess what? Here's no joke either. Kyler Murray is sitting there in first place in the NFC West. My friends, the Black Ops Bowl was a runaway. No more video game jokes, dummies come up with something new. Go ahead. It's over. Kyler wins," he added. [02:49][23.2] GMFB
Murray's team is 4-4, tied with the 49ers and Seahawks. If they take the lead, the Cardinals would win their first division title since 2015.
Kyler Murray gets "memed" into official Call of Duty partnership
Call of Duty has used plenty of celebrity endorsements to sell their product in the past. However, NFL fans accidentally convinced Activision to partner with the Cardinals quarterback for their latest game. At least, that is what Murray has claimed on Twitter/X. Here's an example of a joke Murray would receive:
"Call of Duty Black Ops 6 drops today. Kyler Murray [fantasy] teams are so dead."
Taking to social media, Marvin Harrison Jr.'s quarterback circled the wagons to show off in front of his detractors.
"To the trolls who memed me into a bag, thank you! I’m officially launching my Call of Duty partnership!" the quarterback posted on October 7.
The post came with a video in which another mascot from the game, The Replacer, jokingly took places with Murray to allow the quarterback to play the game.
Put simply, with a lead in the NFC West and a difficult win to do it, some would agree that Kyler Murray has earned a little bit of time with the new first-person shooter.
