NFL analyst reveals Commanders' Ben Sinnott's first TD play named after Travis Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift: Report
Taylor Swift's influence on the NFL hasn’t just been limited to bringing in more viewership, but also inspiring plays for the teams.
The Washington Commanders have a play inspired by Travis Kelce's girlfriend, which the team recently used in the Week 7 clash vs Carolina Panthers.
NFL reporter and analyst Ben Standig came forward with this detail on Thursday. Standig took to his X account to reveal that Commanders tight end Ben Sinnott's first career touchdown came on a play that is inspired by Swift. Opening up about the same, he wrote:
"TE Ben Sinnott's touchdown/first catch came on a play called, 'Taylor Swift.' Kliff Kingsbury said the play was in around for like 3 weeks. Got called against the Panthers. Said other plays are named for pop stars."
In Sunday's game against the Panthers, Sinnott played almost 45% of the team's offensive snaps. The Commanders rookie scored his first NFL touchdown in the third quarter, from quarterback Marcus Mariota. After a 40-7 win over Panthers, the Commanders will face the Chicago Bears in Week 8.
While most fans have been trolling Swift for her influence on the league, Pat McAfee is nothing but full of praises for the singer. McAfee recently shared support for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift as their relationship has been a major factor in the NFL's growth.
Pat McAfee praised Taylor Swift's influence on NFL's growth
Pat McAfee made an appearance on last week's episode of the "New Heights" podcast. During his time on the show, the Kelce brothers discussed a variety of topics with McAfee.
During a segment of the podcast where Travis talked about his week with Taylor Swift, McAfee praised the tight end's relationship.
"I assume you hear it a lot, Travis. You and Taylor's relationship is great for the sport. It is getting introduced to so many people," McAfee said (1:05:50).
"And you are and have been the perfect representation for our sport, too, I think. Personally, genuinely. I think that there's no other human that could do what you're doing right now, and how you're doing it is awesome. And you need to know that all of us are incredibly f---ing proud of the way you're representing all of us, dude," McAfee further added.
Taylor Swift performed her Eras Tour concert in Miami last week, attended by Travis Kelce's brother Jason and his wife Kylie. In the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast, the tight end talked about feeling FOMO about missing out on the show.
