NFL analyst claims Russell Wilson's hamstring injury is final nail in Broncos' coffin: "This is a lost season for this team"

Russell Wilson is on a three-game losing streak in his debut season with the Denver Broncos and is also nursing his second injury. He was able to largely get over his first one, but one NFL analyst claims this one might be different.

Speaking on The Peter King Podcast, show host Peter King essentially called the injury season-ending for the team, even if the quarterback keeps playing.

"Russell had an MRI in Denver today, Tuesday, on his right hamstring, which he strained during the game. And you can feel online when you hear people [who] cover the team or see people tweeting about [it that] this might be serious."

He went on, calling 2022 a "lost season" for the Broncos:

"The one thing that Denver doesn't need is a stationary Russell. He needs to run more and now if the running is taken out... I'm just saying this is a lost season for this team."

How does Russell Wilson compare to Teddy Bridgewater?

This year, No. 3 is standing in the shoes of Teddy Bridgewater. One quarterback cost the team an arm and a leg and the other cost a sixth-round pick. How do the two compare through six games? Russell Wilson is 2-4 and has thrown for five touchdowns and three interceptions.

Meanwhile, Teddy Bridgewater was 3-3 and had thrown for 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. In other words, the cheaper quarterback had won more games, thrown twice as many touchdowns, and just one more interception.

Both quarterbacks had suffered through a three-game losing streak. However, Denver started 3-0 in 2021 and the team started 2-1 in 2022.

Teddy Bridgewater went on to go 4-3 before suffering a season-ending injury. Russell Wilson will hope to beat that, starting with a win over the 4-2 New York Jets on Sunday.

However, it is already clear that Wilson has not brought the improvement the Broncos were looking for. It would need a miraculous turnaround for the team to salvage the season. The chances of that look very slim.
