NFL analyst slams Eagles defense for costing them Super Bowl LVII

In Super Bowl LVII, Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs' offense tormented the much-lauded Eagles' defense on the biggest stage.

The Eagles historically had one of the best pass rush defenses, but they failed to cause any trouble for Mahomes. They failed to put pressure on the Chiefs' quarterback and did not record a single sack in the Super Bowl.

James Bradberry: “It was a holding. I tugged his jersey. I was hoping they would let it slide."

Dave Helman, now a Fox Sports analyst, slammed the Eagles' defense for their performance in the Super Bowl. Here's what he said on "Speak:"

"This was a top defense getting historical comparisons, they did nothing in this game, no sacks. 160 rushing yards allowed 38 points allowed. No takeaways, special teams didn't come through. Kadarius Toney's punt return changes the dynamic of this game completely."

Many of the San Francisco 49ers players had talked ill about the Eagles' defense after the NFC Championship Game. They claimed that Mahomes would light them up, which turned out to be true.

In the second half of Super Bowl LVII, the Chiefs scored on every single possession, outscoring the Eagles 24-11 to claim their second title in four years. Patrick Mahomes and company exposed the Eagles' defense, which had not been challenged much throughout the season.

Despite no-showing from the Philadelphia Eagles defense in the Super Bowl, their quarterback Jalen Hurts played extremely well. His performance against the Chiefs was by far the best of his career, and he should be proud of himself.

Hurts single-handedly kept the Eagles' chances alive by making crucial plays under pressure. He proved once and for all that he is the best quarterback in the NFC.

“If there was any [Jalen Hurts] doubters left, there shouldn’t be now.” #respect

He finished the game by completing 27 of his 38 attempted throws for 304 yards and a touchdown. Hurts also rushed for 70 yards on 15 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns. He would have easily won the Super Bowl LVII MVP award had his defense stepped up against the Chiefs.

Jalen Hurts is likely to sign a contract extension with the Eagles soon, potentially earning more than $50 million a year in the future, which he well deserves.
