NFL analyst urges Eagles to trade A.J. Brown for being “chatty” about Jalen Hurts
The Philadelphia Eagles are enjoying the offseason after winning their second Super Bowl. However, not everyone is happy with how the season turned out.
On the latest episode of "The Herd," NFL analyst Colin Cowherd said the Eagles should trade A.J. Brown for his behaviour during the year. Cowherd called him "chatty" and said the Eagles could move on without him.
"I'm over chatty wide receivers calling out quarterbacks," Cowherd said. "Let's be honest, with DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley, and that offensive line, you can move off A.J. Brown. He's very, very good... but you can move off him."
Hurts' connection with Brown came in for some scrutiny during the season but there was never a signal of discontent.
Would the Eagles entertain the idea of trading A.J. Brown?
Philadelphia would have no reason to trade its top receiver. The results have been excellent since he joined the roster in a trade with the Tennessee Titans during the 2022 NFL draft.
He has played three full seasons with the franchise. The Eagles made the Super Bowl in two of them, and he scored a touchdown in both of these games. He has reached the 1,000-yard mark in all his years in Philadelphia.
When the 2025 season kicks off, he'll be 28, so age is not a problem.
The Eagles signed Brown to a three-year, $96 million contract extension before the 2024 season. He's under contract for the next five seasons, and his long-term future is set to be in Philadelphia.
