"Eat it Kansas City" - NFL Fans lose their mind as Orlando Brown Jr. signs $64 million contract with Bengals
Orlando Brown Jr. shocked the NFL world on Wednesday when he signed a four-year $64 million contract with AFC powerhouse Cincinnati Bengals.
The NFL is known for some of the most intense and iconic rivalries with the likes of the Ravens vs the Steelers and the Packers vs the Bears. One such rivalry that's been brewing in the past few years is that of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC. The Bengals currently have an edge of 3-1 over the Chiefs.
On Wednesday, when free agent Orlando Brown signed with the Bengals, NFL fans absolutely lost it. Here's what the fans had to say.
How does adding Orlando Brown Jr. help the Bengals?
As the first three days of NFL Free Agency passed, the Cincinnati Bengals stayed quiet. At the end of the third day, they pounced on the opportunity to sign free agent OT Orlando Brown Jr. from the Chiefs for four years and $64.09 million.
Brown, who plays left tackle, has been excellent in protecting his quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In the 2022 season, Orlandro Brown Jr. played 1133 snaps, allowing only a mere 4 sacks and 47 pressures in 769 pass-protection snaps. He was a vital cog in Kansas City's Super Bowl run.
When it comes to the Bengals, he'll be looking to replicate the same. Joe Burrow, as great of a quarterback as he is, is known to get sacked, a lot. In the 2021 season, Burrow led the league in getting sacked the most number of times - 51. Last season, he ranked sixth with 41 sacks. Burrow needs protection, given the ACL and MCL injuries that he suffered due to taking a hit. Brown's addition will do a ton of help for the star quarterback.
Orlando Brown's addition will be massive for the Bengals since they were able to get the best tackle available on the market and on budget. To top it off, the Bengals have also retained their entire coaching crew and wide receiver pack.
The Bengals team will cause a lot of problems for teams next season. It would be interesting to see how they take on the Kansas City Chiefs in a game late down in the season and eventually meet again in the playoffs.
