NFL fans outraged at Jerod Mayo's comments on Patriots' continued struggles: "Throwing his team under the bus again"

Jerod Mayo is navigating his first season as the coach of the New England Patriots. After two straight losses, the Patriots now sit at 3-9 and at the bottom of the AFC East divisional rankings.

After Sunday's 34-15 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Jerod Mayo was asked by reporters about his team's woes, especially when making errors and getting penalties. Mayo essentially said that he couldn't control what his players do and that he could only lead them so much.

Those comments didn't go over well with fans of the New England Patriots or most football fans for that matter. Many were upset that Jerod Mayo didn't take accountability for his team's problems and instead "threw his team under the bus."

Jerod Mayo was also criticized by football fans for failing to prepare his team for each week. Some believe that the lack of preparation is what led the Patriots to such a dismal record.

"Complete dodge. Fire this clown."-one outraged fan said
"You have not been preparing them bud that the whole f*****g point."-another person on X said

Others questioned why the New England Patriots coach didn't make adjustments throughout the game and led his team through their rough patch. Despite Mayo being a rookie head coach, some fans were ready to give up on him.

The suggestion that Mayo should be dismissed after one season was a common thought amongst fans on X. This new era of the New England Patriots is not going the same route the last era did with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and that has proven to be tough for some fans to deal with.

"How about doing some in-game coaching and adjustments."-one person advised

What did Patriots HC Jerod Mayo say about his team?

Jerod Mayo told reporters after Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins that he can't help his team once they leave the sidelines. Those comments have many fans outraged and calling for his job.

Mayo insisted that all coaches are in the same position and that once they cross the lines, it's all on the players. The rookie coach did say that he knows his job is to prepare his team for each game.

“Once those guys cross the [sideline] there’s nothing I can do for them. There’s nothing any coach can do for them once they cross the [sideline]. It’s my job to continue to prepare not only them but our coaches to go out here and play better football,” Jerod Mayo said after Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.

Mayo's latest comments come after his words from Nov. 18 denying reports that he was getting outside advice to help develop rookie quarterback Drake Maye. The initial reports said that the Patriots wanted to ensure they developed Maye better than another former first-round draft pick, Mac Jones.
