"This is 100% Deshaun": NFL fans speculate on potential evidence of Deshaun Watson’s burner account after sexual assault allegations
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson received a lot of criticism on social media recently for a number of reasons.
First, Watson isn't living up to his five-year, $230 million guaranteed contract. Second, his name has been brought up again in a sexual assault and battery case with a woman accusing him of assault during a date in 2020.
While Watson has been in the media for all of the wrong reasons lately, fans are speculating that he made a burner account on X to try to defend himself. The X account '@LeroyBickers4' is of recent origin and was created earlier this month.
The account can be constantly seen replying and commenting on Browns football, specifically the play of Watson, and is seen supporting the quarterback.
Some fans felt that the way that the account constantly defended Watson, while also praising him, was proof it was Watson in disguise.
Here's how some fans reacted:
"Burner 101: he’s following the big accounts, making sure to reply for max engagement, and no standalone tweets since no one follows you. Bravo Deshaun, great work man. If he needs a career path after the guaranteed mongo deal, I feel like he could carve a nice niche as a burner," one fan speculated.
"This made me realize that that’s Watson 100%, he’s a serial quitter and he’s already thinking about quitting again lmfaoooo," one fan wrote.
"This is 100% Deshaun….he forgetting he tweeting from the burner getting so mad telling fans they sitting on the couch lmaooooooo YOUR DOWNFALL IS TELEVISED BUCKO," a fan wrote.
Some fans were quick to believe the account was linked to Deshaun Watson, while others thought that it could be anyone out there.
"This definitely @deshaunwatson account," a fan said.
"Not even defending Watson but I hate when yall do this all bc KD got caught up lmao," a fan said.
"You’re actually a f*cking moron if you think this is him LMFAO," one fan said.
Deshaun Watson's lawyer issues statement denying recent allegations against the QB
Earlier this week, Deshaun Watson's name was brought up in another sexual assault case. The claimant accuses Watson of touching her in inappropriate areas without consent.
Following the accusation, Watson's lawyer Rusty Hardin issued a statement denying the allegations. He also said Watson wouldn't publicly comment as he is focused on football.
"Deshaun strongly denies the allegations in the Jane Doe lawsuit filed on Monday. We have asked him not to comment further while this matter works its way through the courts, but are comfortable he will ultimately be vindicated. We will be ready to defend this case in court at the appropriate time, but don't intend to conduct our defense in the media. We would ask that people be patient while the legal process runs its course.
"In the meantime, Deshaun is going to focus his energy and concentration on football."
The Browns face the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday on the road. In their season-opening game, against the Dallas Cowboys, Watson completed 24-of-45 passes for 169 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
