NFL Insider Adam Schefter adds fuel to Aaron Rodgers retirement rumors
Fans and various pundits have speculated about Aaron Rodgers' options following the failed attempt to save the season in 2022. But one of the biggest insiders in the game has narrowed down the long list of options to two outcomes.
Speaking on WFAN via the New York Post, Adam Schefter claimed it basically comes down to the New York Jets or retirement. Here's how he put it:
“My sense is there continues to be more and more signs about him leaving Green Bay. I think in the end, my sense is ultimately it will come down to whether he wants to play elsewhere, which would really be the New York Jets, or whether he wants to retire."
Will Aaron Rodgers retire this offseason?
He continued, underlining the two scenarios as the "most likely":
"To me, those are the two most logical options and the two most likely scenarios here. But again, we have not heard from Aaron Rodgers himself.”
Aaron Rodgers' potential final season with Packers a memorable one
If the 2022 season was the last look at Rodgers in a Packers uniform, fans may claim he went out in a blaze of glory after a nightmarish season. To kickoff the year, the quarterback started at 3-1. Two months later, he was 4-8.
Over the next month, the team ripped through opponents to get back to 8-8. They needed just one win to seal a place in the playoffs. In order to accomplish the feat, the team needed to edge out red-hot Detroit Lions who sparked at about the same time. However, in the last game of the regular season, the quarterback got a bit too loose with the ball late in the contest.
The Lions won the game with a scoreline of 20-16 and squandered the Packers hopes. Will 2022 retroactively serve as the swan song for Rodgers?
