NFL insider delivers Packers fans bad news on Jordan Love's return

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love signed one of the biggest contract extensions this offseason. Unfortunately for Love, he will miss some meaningful time in the beginning of this season.

In the Packers' season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Love suffered an MCL sprain that forced him out of the game, missing Week 2 as a result. Though the initial prognosis was Love possibly missing four to six weeks, he ended up as doubtful to play this past Sunday on Green Bay's injury report.

As Love hopes for a speedy recovery, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter thinks he will miss at least another game or two. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Schefter said:

"I don't think Jordan Love is gonna be able to play now. Let's see how the week goes. But I personally do not expect to see him out there Sunday. He could surprise me. He can make a quick recovery.
"I thought all along that the two targeted dates were Week 4 against the Vikings or Week 5 against the Rams, those always were going to be the two dates that they could get him back by. That's still the hope that he gets back at that point in time. But I think weeks 4 or 5 are more realistic."

If Jordan Love is unable to play this week against the Tennessee Titans, backup quarterback Malik Willis will get his second NFL start for the Packers.

Willis started against the Indianapolis Colts. He helped lead Green Bay to a 16-10 victory in a run-heavy approach. Willis completed 12-of-14 passes for 122 yards and rushed for 41 yards on six carries.

Running back Josh Jacobs led the offense by carrying the ball 32 times for 151 yards.

If given the opportunity to start Sunday, Willis would play the team that drafted him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Titans traded Willis to the Packers this offseason for a seventh-round pick.
