NFL insider drops major update on Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco's return from injury

Running back Isiah Pacheco has been off the field since Week 2 after he suffered a fractured fibula during the Kansas City Chiefs' win over the Cincinnati Bengals. His absence has led to the Chiefs scoring fewer points per game and reduced the team's rushing yards average.

However, there's good news for the Chiefs Kingdom. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport's update on NFL GameDay Morning, Pacheco is pushing hard to make a comeback on the field by late November.

“Isiah Pacheco’s on IR and he’s not going to play [on Monday] but help is on the way. My understanding is Pacheco, who suffered a fractured fibula, is expected to resume practice in two to three weeks. He’s targeting a late November return. The rich continue to get richer,” Rapoport said in a video included in his tweet.

The RB's injury happened as his season was taking off. During a regular play in the fourth quarter of the Week 2 game between the Chiefs and the Bengals, Pacheco pushed forward when his team required ten yards for a first down.

Next, as a defender tackled Pacheco, the RB's foot got stuck in the turf, leading to his leg bending awkwardly. Consequently, Pacheco fractured his fibula and later underwent surgery to fix it.

Before getting injured, he scored 135 rushing yards and one touchdown in just 34 carries.

Kansas City Chiefs backfield is feeling the void of Isiah Pacheco

Since Isiah Pacheco is missing approximately six to eight weeks of play, the Chiefs Kingdom's backfield feels the strain of his unavailability despite remaining undefeated until now. More so because Pacheco's fellow RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is also sitting out for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Pivoting back to Pacheco's comeback talks, it will depend on how well his body responds to surgery and rehabilitation.

Until he returns, other RBs will have to fill in the gap—either by gaining tough yards or by contributing to the passing game to keep the opponents under pressure and continue the Chiefs' winning streak.
