NFL insider not fully sold on Bill Belichick joining Tom Brady’s Raiders regime: “That would be wild”

Tom Brady officially became a minority owner in the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 15. The franchise is currently in some turmoil with a 2-7 record and has parted ways with its offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and offensive line.

On Tuesday's episode of the "Scoop City" podcast, Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel discussed the Raiders' current state. Russini shared that she recently spoke to owner Mark Davis and that he mentioned that Tom Bady does not yet have a defined role within the organization.

Russini pondered whether Brady would play an influential role in any potential coaching changes and whether he had anyone in mind who could potentially lead Las Vegas in the future.

“Tom Brady is going to have a lot of say in the direction this place goes. From the QB position to coaching," Dianna Russini said. "Mark Davis told me that they don’t have a defined role for him. I don’t think he wanted to get in the weeds and say yes, we’re going to let Tom Brady do everything. I think it’s just going to be a tremendous influence on this Raiders organization as a whole. You gotta wonder does Tom Brady have any coaches in mind that he wants to bring in that he thinks could be good? [TS 13:10]

Chase Daniel wondered if Bill Belichick would be an option, or even former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel, who was Brady's teammate on the New England Patriots, might be a fit.

Chase Daniel: “[Belichick] could be an interesting one. That would be wild. [Vrabel] and he played together. They’re friends.

Russini agreed that either could help Las Vegas build culture and find success.

Russini: This is an organization that could use a good culture builder.”

What percentage of the Raiders does Tom Brady own?

On October 15, 2024, NFL owners approved Tom Brady's purchase of a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. According to NBC News, Brady and his investment partner Tom Wagner of Knighthead Capital invested a combined $220 million for a 10% stake in the team, which effectively gives each of them a 5% ownership share.

While Brady may be a novice when it comes to NFL ownership, he certainly knows what it takes to build a winning franchise. The Las Vegas Raiders, currently in a rebuilding phase, could benefit from his guidance moving forward.
