NFL insider labels Aaron Rodgers’ absence from mandatory minicamp ‘unusual situation’
Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to playing fast and loose with his attendance at OTAs, but his absence is concerning nonetheless. At least, that is what NFL Insider Tom Pelissero has observed about the situation. Taking to Twitter/X, the insider quoted a report about the quarterback's absence, calling it an "unusual situation."
The original report came via Brian Costello, a New York Jets reporter for the New York Post. Here's what Costello wrote in a post on Twitter/X on Tuesday morning:
Rodgers' absence comes in the shadow of a video that alleges the quarterback was seen limping at practice. In other words, Rodgers' absence could be the result of a potential injury.
However, Costello calling it an "unexcused absence" blows up this theory.
Aaron Rodgers' alleged limp video prompts health-related questions
Rodgers' health was the story of his 2023 season. If things don't change soon, the quarterback is at risk of a similar fate this year. After months of suggestions and teases of a mid-season return following a torn Achilles, the quarterback again has raised health concerns.
In a video posted on May 30 by Paul Higham via Jets Videos on Twitter/X, the quarterback is spotted sitting on a cart massaging his right lower leg area. In another clip, he is seen running through a drill and pulling up after throwing a pass on a bootleg.
While the NFL season is a stiff arm's length away, it has prompted questions about the quarterback's health. Following the 2023 season and seeing the quarterback seemingly moving around well, fans largely assumed Rodgers would coast into being ready for the year ahead.
However, it appears that there might be another health-related race against time for Garrett Wilson's quarterback.
