NFL insider reveals Chiefs’ attempt at gaining an edge at Super Bowl LVII ahead of Eagles showdown
The Kansas City Chiefs have already arrived in Arizona for Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Super Bowl weeks are very different from regular weeks since the teams and players are involved in a lot of activities.
Although the week leading up to the Super Bowl might be exhausting, the Chiefs have adopted a specific tactic to be as focused as possible.
Here's what James Palmer of NFL Network reported on what Patrick Mahomes and company plans are for today in Arizona:
"There's not a whole lot scheduled, I'm told with the team tonight. There's a team meeting. There's a security briefing, and that's kind of about it. They're giving these guys a little bit of time away to themselves.
"Now, it's interesting here in this hotel, they want to make it feel as much like Kansas City and their facility there as possible. I was told all of the meeting rooms that they have, because they have meeting rooms here. The coaches have their own offices.
"They made these meeting rooms look exactly like their meeting rooms in Kansas City. So when the players walk into them, they have that feel, that they are back in Kansas and it's a normal week as much as possible while they're here at the hotel, because we know there's so many other things about this week that are just not normal as a player..."
Andy Reid and the Kansas City players have vast Super Bowl experience since this is their third trip in the last four years. The Philadelphia Eagles, on the other hand, may encounter some issues because they have a young coach and many young players who have never been in this situation before.
The game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will undoubtedly be spectacular. These two great teams with two great quarterbacks will square off on the biggest stage on Sunday.
Are the Chiefs a modern-day NFL Dynasty?
The Kansas City Chiefs have hosted five straight AFC Championship games since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback. This has led to three Super Bowl trips and a Super Bowl title.
There is little doubt that if they win a second Super Bowl under Mahomes, they will be considered a dynasty. Despite all that has gone against them this season, they have fought through it and are now just one win away from glory.
A Super Bowl win would also mean a lot to Mahomes since it would put him on the right track for GOAT comparisons with Tom Brady. Expect such comparisons to begin if Kansas City win on Sunday.
