NFL Redzone hosts apologizes to Tom Brady after criticizing 7x Super Bowl champ's broadcasting debut
"It's nice to see Tom Brady s**k at something," one tweet read after Brady made his broadcasting debut with Fox on Sunday evening. Brady's nose for the game was never in doubt but his capabilities as a broadcaster were called into question by NFL fans and a few NFL personalities as well.
NFL Redzone host Scott Hanson was among those who poked holes at Brady after his unenthusiastic call regarding Brandon Aubrey potentially lining up 71-yard field goal attempt.
While the kick would have tied Justin Tucker’s NFL record, the Cowboys were pulled up for a delay of game on the play, and that was that.
“Oh come on,” Hanson could be heard saying on RedZone. “[Tom] Brady has gotta get more excited than that in the booth.”
As a clip of his lighthearted criticism went viral, Hanson tweeted an apology tagging Brady, saying:
"This was unfair and inconsiderate by me. Yes, I was saying it tongue in cheek but I didn't calculate how it may come across. Tom Brady, I apologize. I promise I am rooting [for] you on this new venture!"

Hanson wasn't the only one who raised an issue with Brady's debut at Cowboys-Browns. Antonio Brown, who famously fought many a battle with Brady off the field after his divorce from Gisele Bundchen, tweeted after the game:
"Maybe someone should have listened to Tom Brady actually say words before dropping $300 million on him."
Brown didn't exactly get Brady's salary down pat. The seven-time Super Bowl champion signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox to kick off his new gig in the media.
Which game will Tom Brady call next?
Per The Patriot Ledger, Brady will be in the booth when the Dallas Cowboys host the New Orleans Saints in Week 2. Brady will be alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, while Erin Andrews and Tim Rinaldi will be the sideline reporters for the game.
Like the Cowboys, the Saints also impressed in their season opener, thrashing the Carolina Panthers 47-10.
