NFL Rumors: Cardinals set to part ways with GM Steve Keim after underwhelming 2022 season
The Arizona Cardinals are currently one of the worst teams in the NFL with a 4-9 record. While many within the organization are to blame, it is reported that general manager Steve Keim could be the first to go.
The Cardinals are prepared to relieve Keim of his duties after this season comes to a close. Earlier this season, Keim was given a contract extension through 2027, along with head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
Arizona recently announced that Keim was taking a medical leave of absence from the team. Keim and Kingsbury's future with the team was of concern before Keim's leave of absence. Both he and Kingsbury were given those extensions ahead of the season in March. Arizona was officially eliminated from the postseason after losing to the New England Patriots in Week 14.
Even worse, their franchise quarterback, Kyler Murray, tore his ACL and is out for the season. Keim and Arizona gave Murray a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension in July. During Keim's run, the franchise has made the postseason three times, making it to the NFC Championship game in the 2015-16 season.

Steve Keim has been with Arizona since 1999, starting his journey as a scout. From 2006 to 2007, he was the team's director of college scouting. He was later promoted to director of player personnel, serving in the role from 2008 to 2011. Lastly, Keim was the VP of player personnel in 2012 prior to becoming the team's general manager in 2013.
Who are some possible candidates to replace Steve Keim as Cardinals GM?
Should the Cardinals part ways with Keim, owner Michael Bidwell might stay within the organization to find their new GM. General manager responsibilities are currently being divided between VP of player personnel Quentin Harris and VP of pro personnel Adrian Wilson.
Both Harris and Wilson are top candidates for the general manager position after the season concludes. Wilson played 12 seasons in the NFL, all with the Cardinals. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro for the franchise in his playing career.
We'll see what Bidwell does as this season cannot end soon enough for Arizona.
